So, in welding say a pair of pieces together, 1.5" 1/8" pipe at mitred 45* angles, at the 'short' end of the pipes, the inner V where they join, is that the type place where I would maintain speed but kick up the heat to keep the puddle going?I'm seeing as I do stainless that if I can keep minimum heat but maintain the puddle, that's how I get those salmon-colored welds. If I have too much heat on it, it goes greyish on me.I'm probably way off, lol.Hobart EZ-Tig newbie.
Reply:OK... 2 things. A foot pedal to control your heat is a big help. You really want to maintain the same heat on each pass. Like on your hot pass you may run 180 amps. On your filler you can kick it up to 210. Also you maintain the same travel speed. If you are getting a grey color you are moving too slow with too much heat. I will post you a picture tomorrow of what a stainless weld looks like per each pass.My hood and I... Till death do us part
Reply:if I move faster with the heat level I'm using the puddle doesn't develop, so I have to bump the heat up to move faster........that's the problem I'm having. hm.Hobart EZ-Tig newbie.
