I have a Miller 135 110 v machine, and every few minutes the wire pops out of the groove on the feeder wheel. My buddy and I looked at it, and it *seems* that maybe the spring behind it is too tough, and it is pushing the wheel over, causing the wire to come out of the groove. I am not sure this is correct, though. Once it pops out, it won't feed right.Anyone else have experience with this?Have a Jeep Cherokee? Click Here!
Reply:Drive wheel tension set too tight? How about the wheels themselves? Excessive pressure can wear them prematurely, and gunk/copper coating can also build up in the wheels and cause the wire to ride up and out. Have you changed wire sizes at all lately, and possibly used the wrong side of the drive wheel?
Reply:RTFM. Page 18.In words, you open the pressure arm then feed the wire from the spool and across the drive wheel and through the wire guides and into the gun cable, making sure the wire is IN the groove in the drive wheel, then close the pressure arm and adjust the tension/pressure as needed. Done. You -DO- have the right size groove for the wire diameter being used located closest to the drive motor, right? The drive roll has two grooves, an 0.024 groove and an 0.030/0.035 groove and the stamped marking for the groove size is OPPOSITE from the actual groove. Page 25. Section 6-4. Reply:Hi, I'm not familiar with this machine, But there must be some sort of wire guide between the wire spool and rollers to take into account the changing angle of the wire leaving the spool. Is this still in place, very worn or out of alignment etc. Hope you find the answer. Regards Gordon.
Reply:Ok, thanks for the responses, I will check that out in the morning. Been busy this Holiday season, ugh .Appreciate!Have a Jeep Cherokee? Click Here!
Reply:The best test for roller tension is to feed the wire against a wood block. If it stalls, the tensioner is too loose. If it feeds, and curls up in the air or to the side, the tensioner is good. Always go with the least tension if you can."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
