anyone have any idea what sliding glass door and window frames are made of?? just took a huge 12ft slider and a big window got rid of the glass and figure the frames will make great practice material before they go to the scraper trying to figure what filler to use etc350P 30A spool gun cut master 51 syncro 250 other stuff " take a dog off the street and make him prosper and he will not bite you sad the same cannot be said for man" i didnt use punctuation just to piss you off

Reply:Architectural extrusions are generally 6063. I'd bet the sliding door is also 6063.
Reply:6063 for sure; it could be any one of a number of the 6000 series Al alloys and also any one of a number of tempers. you can bet that the mfg is going to know what alloy and temper he is going to be pushing through his dies ahead of time. there is a lot of engineering that goes into the process.i used to buy most of my aluminum from eastern metal supply they carry a huge line of extrusions; specialty,architectural and structural. good company. at least all my dealings with them were, we bought tons of aluminum from them back in the nineties.
