I recently sold a Miller S-64M wire feeder unit and the buyer is complaining that they need the data card because they can't change parameters. It is set to go up to only 400ipm. I understand these cards are VERY expensive and there are not that many of them. Is there a way to release this 3-digit code without purchasing a new card? I was actually told by a Miller service guy that there would be no need to run past 400ipm for most any need and the buyer would likely not even have the power supply needed to do so unless they were running something called "045"?. Is it typical for the used data card with security code to be sold with used machines and does this buyer have a legitimate complaint? The unit with a brand new Miller gun was sold for $800 so is that a good deal regardless of the 400ipm limit?
Reply:If you hold me to 400 IPM for spray x-fer solid wire, Im gonna be pissedExperience is something you get right after you need it
Reply:I don't know much about the use of data cards on wire feeders but if one came with it when new it should stay with it when sold used.   Then again the buyer should have done his home work and known a card was needed for full operation.  He could have passed on the deal or made sure the card came with the feeder.Do you have the card?  If so you could change the limit for him and keep the card.Dan
Reply:If it was sold "as-is", that's that.
