back again, well at school we have been doing ALOT of MIG welding (short circuit) .035 wire with 100% CO2 30 CFH, we have been practicing vertical down butt t and v-groove ive pretty much got mig down except for vert up, so yesterday before we went out in the shop my teacher asked us who wanted to do aluminum mig welding, so he picked me and a buddy to be trained by a "second-year" (im a first year as a junior) im not sure the details but we were using aluminun wire pulsed spray (sounds really cool) on scrap aluminum we started out on t joint and of course mine sucked, but then i just tool a long whip forward and a shorter whip back and paused and it looked pretty sick-nasty even the second year said he couldnt make one that good but then my teacher came over and out-welded me with a goofy smile on his face, but i actually thought that aluminum mig welding is much easier than mild steel, it seems that once you get the right technique its easy, ohh and the dialing in the machine was difficult.
