New Welder, First Project

Well after almost 20 years of working at an LWS, I finally broke down and bought my first new welder, a Miller MM212. The first project I wanted to do was a portable tool cart, as I have a small workbench and got tired of tools always getting in the way. I used Lincoln L-56 .035 wire, with C-15 gas for this project, the best part of this was when I was putting the last coat of paint on it, and the wife came out and said, "Isn't that just like the cart you were going to buy at Harbor Freight for $29.95? Yep it sure is, exept I've got $42.00 in steel, casters and paint, 4 hours of my time, and about eight bucks worth of Bud Light Lime in it. She just shook her head and went back into the house. Reply:Nice job. Tell the wife,or show her, that for $12.00 more the difference in the quality. If your like me, I'm sure you used heavier material than the HF one. Yours will outlast the HF.  Make that $20.00 more, I forget about the $8.00 for the Bud.

Reply:If your anything like me I would have spent 30 bucks for the HF one only to spend 40 bucks into making it better and set up for my own needs so great job.  My wife would of done the same thing and bring it up every chance she had that I spent 10 bucks more to build something that I could have bought.  Id pay 50 for that then the 30 for HF one.  Great work keep it up!!!
