First, the picsthat will get grounded and after powdercoating, there will be a cap there.also, the hole you see there is a vent hole... whole cart is vented Last edited by oxy moron; 06-24-2010 at 01:00 AM.
Reply:here's the skinny:1x1x1/16 tubing.1/8 expanded metalhandles and hangers are 5/8" roundsfour of the balls are 1.5" hollow and two are cast solids (i think)the two balls on top of the car are handles that are suppose to mimic shift knobs. the ones on the side are there to hang stuff (cables, jacket...whatever). its sized to carry 6 milk crates.I know there are some bird-poos in there somewhere, but there are also some fairly decent looking welds. everything is tig welded except the expanded sheet metal. those are tack welded with a mig. since my mig tacks aren't anything to write home about, i didn't bother to take a picture of it.
Reply:O-M, ye just gotta respect a guy with lotsa balls....
Reply:I have one hell of a lot of respect for people who don' t grind welds down on tubing.I do the sameGood weld, ugly weld, it stands for eternityI don't have the coordination for TIG, and probably won't ever attempt it. And I don't work with material needing to be TIG welded. The "bird poo" as you call it will change with practice.A large number of people on here don't weld a lot. And the work shows it. It doesn't mean it's bad, it just means there isn't an oppurtunity to do a lot of practice on real metal. Coupons don't mean crap, it's the finished project that means something.Keep at it."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:May I ask, what are the small holes at the end of your tubes for????Come try it out and stay a while.
Reply:the small holes on the outside of the cart that you see is actually mistakes that might get filled up before powder coating.experimenting with different materials, shapes, sizes... just thought balls were interesting you're right samm, if i grind the welds down, then i'll never see if i've progressed. might as well leave it all hang out, and see the progress. I just might take your advice to task. I'll see if i can schedule 30 min to an hour everyday and just weld. I think my prgress kind of plateau'ed and if that's what i have to do to take it to the next level, then I think it's worth it. thx for the advice.Last edited by oxy moron; 06-25-2010 at 10:12 AM.
