This is the sheet stacker that I designed and built for the company I work for. I based the design off of current stackers but was able to alleviate some maintenance issues by reducing some of the moving parts on the current stackers. The main framing is 2x4x1/4" steel tubing. I over built everything due to a long standing history of damage to equipment by operators. Attached Images

Reply:That's funny. The stacker stacks the resin coated material after it comes out of the treater oven. The material is cut to length amd than is carried to the stacker by a set of belts. Two oscillating arms stack the sheets length wise while a set of paddles pushes the sheets against the end stop. There is a blower fan that creates a cushion of air that allows the sheet to "float" over the stack until it hits the end stop.
Reply:Nice job. Rugged looking machine.Operators will have to work hard to beat it up.Alot of machines builtin- house today are built almost entirely of that alum. extrusion stuff(called 80/20 or 60/40)Good stuffbut I wonder about its rigidity and the alignment of moving components.  Machine reminds me of units I used to work on.One was called a "sheeter".A flying knife would cutplastic film to length, and belts would stack sheets on a conveyor. There were similar looking machines for sealing, cutting, folding and stacking plastic bags.Miller a/c-d/c Thunderbolt XLMillermatic 180 Purox O/ASmith Littletorch O/AHobart Champion Elite
Reply:jpump5, I believe the technical name for it is sheeter. But to me and the Company, stacker makes more sense. The old design had a small eccentric that went to 2 sets of arms that multiplied the movement of the eccentric. By using a larger eccentric with better bearings I was able to reduce moving parts, several safety concerns and reduce maintenance as a whole. After I talked to the people at work, they said it is the only piece of equipment on the new line that does work. When I return I will have several more of these to build.

Reply:Few things are as fun as watching a machine that you built operating for the first time. And that's got be a good one .Never built anything that large .Built alot of fixtures and some assembly machines.Designed a few of them, but mostly just machined parts from drawings and assembled them.I think the most interesting project I was involved in was an automated TIG welding machine.Miller a/c-d/c Thunderbolt XLMillermatic 180 Purox O/ASmith Littletorch O/AHobart Champion Elite
