I actually have three questions:1) do I ditch the OA setup for plasma torch? I have 2 VICTOR sets 1 new Journeyman set and 1 JR set w/new cutting attach. I like the JR becuase gas seems to last longer. I have two sets of gauges but only one set works. I also have an empty bottle of Oxy and a full 40cu of acetalyne.2) What psi is suggested for a plasma torch? What thickness can I cut with a $500 budget?3) I drained about two quarts of water from my old compressor so I was wondering if anyone has used a GAST pump for thier plasma torch. They do spit out oil but I would make a trap. They put out a constant airflow rather than compressed so its hard to guess psi but Im gonna say about 30 psi steady. The cutting attacments behind the compressor are retired . Attached Images
Reply:Never "ditch" an O/A for an anything. Add to the arsenal, maybe but never ditch an O/A.You'll need around 60 to 90 psi to feed a plasma cutter.Oil will be instant death for plasma consumables."The things that will destroy America are prosperity at any price, peace at any price, safety first instead of duty first, the love of soft living and the get rich quick theory of life." -Theodore Roosevelt
Reply:Sandy, you make good sense to never ditch the OA or tools period . Just because I will need it someday . As far the GAST goes, I dont think its gonna supply that mutch air and the oil is another problem. ThanksLast edited by Insaneride; 05-19-2012 at 01:48 PM.Reason: grammar
