Hi there guys. I am currently practicing up for a welding test in the next few weeks. I am having some trouble getting my 2G cap to look nice. The test is a 3/8 plate v groove all 6010 with a stringer cap. Could anyone give me some tips on how to successfully lay three strings on top of each other and make them look nice. Also any pictures for reference would greatly appreciated
Reply:have your groove 1/16" underfilled so you have a small shelf to deposit your first pass of your cover pass on. after that aim each bead at the top toe of the previous weld. short arc, small circles 85 amps.only thing worse than an ugly woman is an ugly weld
