So this is my second welding project. The display will hold fabric horizontally, its almost done, still need some more griding to hide the ugly welds. Then paint and put it in my store. After upgrading from my chicago electric wire feed to the Hobart handler, my welds are 10x better. I'm still waiting for my Miller Maxstar 140 to come in. I really like to stick weld, but the MIG is giving me some really clean looking welds. I was in a hurry when I was cutting and my 45* cuts were off, so I had to do A LOT of filling in, actually used a bold on one of them to fill in the gap.I'm also thinking about how I can customize my welding cart. I haven't decided what exactly I will need to carry and how to place it for optimal use. I will want to carry around my Hobart and my Miller.. from there probably wire feed holders...
Reply:what kind of wire are you running? are they welded areas prepped and cleaned before welds? as for your cart draw a few things up on paper and take a few days of looking at your drawings to really see what you like dont like and if you can add or subtract anything to make it better. think of things like your grinders, tools, hanging electrical cords, work lead ect.
Reply:I'm running Flux-Core 0.030 wire. There is some prepping and cleaning, to the extent that I clean all the cut edges after cutting with my grinder.  Thanks for the advice with my welding cart. I've been looking at other member's welding carts and getting ideas.
Reply:This was my first welding project for my store. This is to hold rolls of fabric vertically. I don't have any close ups of the welds, thankfully, as they were not the best looking.
Reply:Re: the close-up of the 45º corner. Ouch. Little more practice needed ( genuinely well meaning ) Maybe grind that down and weld some more to make sure it holds. And file off those burrs on the cut edges. Wouldn't want to get blood on the nice fabrics! Good luck!200amp Air Liquide MIG, Hypertherm Plasma, Harris torches, Optrel helmet, Makita angle grinders, Pre-China Delta chop saw and belt sander, Miller leathers, shop made jigs etc, North- welders backpack.
