Sorry about the simplicity of the question. I picked up a Purox w-200 torch set-up not too long ago. Everything is new. Last weekend I picked up a Dillon mkIII for $10.00. Seems like Two stage are the way to go. So.... Are these Union Carbide regulators Single or Two stage. Any suggestions? This is my first set up with O/A.

Reply:From  the pictures, I'd say those are both single-stage regulators.I say single-stage because typically with two-stage regulators some evidence of the primary stage regulator's somewhat bulky separate section is usually visible on the housing, and I can't see that with the pictured regulators.Good Luck
Reply:In all my years I have never seen a two stage regulator.  You don't really need 2-stage unless you are flush with money.
Reply:http://www.esabna.com/literature/Arc..._REGULATOR.pdfhttp://www.esabna.com/literature/Arc...REGULATORS.pdfaccording to the parts break down they look to be single stage, (on a two stage there are two stages of pressure reduction,  a primary that reduces it and then the adjustable that is the final adjustment,  on a single stage it does it all in one step,
Reply:Those are definitely single stage. As has been stated they work fine. I used the exact same type for many years before lucking on to some two stage models cheap at auction. The two stage versions are very easy to identify. They have a really long body on them.  Here's a listing with good pics of a two stage linde, oxweld, union carbide, purox, esab brand regulator in the old style.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Acetylene-Ga...item4ab7689e98Millermatic 252XMT 304'sDynasty 280DXHypertherm PowerMax 1250Miller Trailblazer 302 EFIOptima PulserXR feeder and XR Edge gun and more athttp://members.dslextreme.com/users/waynecook/index.htm
Reply:Thanks a bunch guys. I appreciate the foot work. The Cobra toch manual online show how to set the torch up with single stage regulators. O/A is a new venture for me. To tell you the truth I'm a little nervous about it. I'm used to pluging in a machine and turning on 75/25 tank on and pretty much start rolling. I'm looking to have a litte more control of the weld. I'm hoping to accomplish this with O/A.
Reply:Good score on the Purox.  W-200s tend to go high on Ebay and NIB old ones aren't common.
