Hey guysI want to pick up a Ac/Dc TIG machine to learn how to do aluminum. I am ok on steel and stainless but could improve with that as well. How is the new Miller Diversion 165? The price is very attractive, but I am not sure if its good or not. Says 230 volt input, that will work off a convention 3 pron AC outlet right? Don't want to have to rewire my garage if I can avoid it.Would it be worth it to look at a Miller Diversion 165 or a Miller Syncrwoave 200? Pros? Cons? Thanks all!
Reply:I have tried the Diversion and have a friend that has one. I think they are a decent machine. They run off a normal 220 welder outlet which I am sure you have or can put in without any trouble. The down sides for me were that it is only a 165amps machine max and only 20% duty cycle at 150amps. This means 1/8 aluminum is the max and you are greatly restricted. Also you can't arc weld ( stick ) with it which really sucks. As to the bigger machines. The Miller Syncrowave or the Lincoln Precision tig 225 are pretty good machines. I was going to buy the snycrowave 200 but the Precision tig 225 was 500.00 less. Both are the same machine just one os red and the other is blue. I bought the lincoln and so far love it.Good luck with your decision.Miller DVI2Lincoln Precision Tig 225Thermodynamics Cutmaster 38Everything else needed. |
