Reply:Some nice machining there. How many hours do you figure you'll have into it when it's finished?Lincoln AC225 & MigPak 140, Lincoln Magnum SpoolGun, Miller Spectrum 375-X Plasma, Syncrowave 200 TIG, Millermatic 252 MIG, Miller Digital Elite, General 7x12" horiz/vert bandsaw, 3' box/pan brake, 20 ton press, milling machine, 12x28 lathe, etc.
Reply:I have about 100 hours now hope 30 more will finsh it. Thank you Vernon

Reply:Its easy to see why you have 100 hours in construction that is one fine belt sander. What size motor are you using, do the lights dim when you start it up??You must have a good supplier of Aluminum it looks like it mostly all aluminum no rust there!have funTom
Reply:Hey Tom, The sander is made of steel not Alum Lots of sanding makes it look like Alum. And the motor is 1 Hp. I feel if you over work 1 Hp your over working the paper. Thank you Vernon
Reply:That is one skookum sander. I've got the Delta version of that design. No where near that hefty of course. I'd like to take it apart and use some of the parts to make a horizontal belt sander. I never use the disk on mine. I do a lot of work with round bar and tube and like to rest the piece on the tool rest table and use my hand to quick roll the piece along the belt to take off the cut burr. When you've got a hundred pieces to do, both ends, speed is good. Just can't do it with the belt running vertically. Thanks for the post!!!!200amp Air Liquide MIG, Hypertherm Plasma, Harris torches, Optrel helmet, Makita angle grinders, Pre-China Delta chop saw and belt sander, Miller leathers, shop made jigs etc, North- welders backpack.

Reply:Awesome....just awesome!!That sander will be around for decades. Try and buy that at Harbor freight!!http://all-a-cart.comWelding Cart Kits and accessories
Reply:100 hrs @ nominal shop rate of $50/hr = $5000 sander Yeah, you couldn't buy that sturdy of a machine at H-F. I know it isn't always about how much it costs or how long it takes, sometimes you just want to do it your self or want to make it be 'better' than what you could (reasonably) buy. Been there, done that.Flange bearings on the upper pulley shaft? Maybe make a 'dust shield' to go around them. Dust and grit and small particles aren't good for bearings. The best laid schemes ... Gang oft agley ...
