Here is a little adapter plate I was forced to weld today...There was no arc blow..Arc wander..Silent beam..Beam me up Scotty...None of that whatever at all..I just don't get it and glad I don't..Positioner in use...You can do funky shaped stuff on it!1/16" 5356 filler..3/32 Red SHARP!...Straight Argon..180-200 amps..Footpedal..Miller A/BP330..Water in torch...All that happycrap...Any guesses to what this will be doing?Sorry about the crappy pic #1..I'M a rookie with a camera..What is your guess?...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:Adapter or aZapster???? A mount/ plate for a stand or brace for something???And then, after so much work...... you have it in your hand, and you look over to your side...... and the runner has run off. Leaving you holding the prize, wondering when the runner will return.

Reply:Lovely welding as always. From the picture it appears the positioner can be pivoted and clamped manually in a variety of positions on it's horizontal axis. Is this correct?I'm thinking it might be handy to have a positioner that would do this, except rather than be clamped in one position it would be capable of moving on that axis while welding. This would be handy for welding tubing saddle joints.I've seen some very expensive positioners that can tip back and forth on the second axis while the object rotates, but those are beyond my budget.I have a bit of a plan for converting my homemade positioner to do the rocking motion, might give it a try.Have you ever encountered a need for that type of positioner?

Reply:I'm thinking about making things easier when welding this type of joint. Ideally this would mean motion on that tip axis during weld. Attached Images

Reply:Ohhh, purdy welds.  Have you tried any other kinds of tungsten with your welder zap?  A lot of people seem to use thoriated (red) for almost everything when TIG welding.  I've been using zirconiated (brown) for AC on aluminum.  I've recently started sharpening the tungsten to a longer taper making it much more pointy and I feel that I get better arc starting.Miller 330 a/bp water cooledI believe in gun control, I hold my gun with two hands.  If you want to know why, click here.Buy American or bye America.

Reply:I use 2% Ceriated (yellow or orange end) for aluminum welding. That is if I dont use 2% Thoriated.
Reply:hey zapster just curious, what do you usualy set your balance at?
