Man, I love brazing things together....  I love the look of a freshly polished Bronze filled joint.  I'll take that over a TIG or MIG weld 'Stack O' Dimes' any day of the week !  Bronze is probably my favorite, followed by Copper Phosphate, Silver Phosphate and Nickel Silver.  Those funky Aluminum Sticks are fun to play with too and when used properly, you can sure make some cool things happen...I'm going to try and fix a busted housing on a Mariner 40 Magnum outboard....  Dude broke it off when he stepped on his 'Hydrofoil' !  Either way, It's going to be interesting !  Cheers,/Jman....
Reply:i use that method on thin sheet metal, brazing is a beautiful thing
Reply:Use it nearly everyday, mostly silver solder stainless to brass.Cheers

Reply:I do that process when the job demands it.  I use uncoated brass rods which require dipping in flux, or, flux coated rods which have become very popular in recent years.  I use Eutectic and Cronatron brand coated rods.  Very good stuff.  I do silver solder on occasion.  I keep various grades of silver, up to and including "food grade" stuff.I also do O/A welding on exhaust pipe modification.  I'll post a pic later of one I relocated on my farm tractor.  When I do exhaust's I like to use coat hangers for filler metal.  Sometimes the copper coated wire.

Reply:I just finished this model B exhaust manifold after lunch.  I notched out the crack, brazed it several times(kept hitting pockets of crap) and it finially turned out okay.. I was feeling lazy so I used the coated filler.. And I used a # 1 cutting torch.. worked out fine. Attached ImagesCommon sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.
Reply:Nice job on the Exhaust! I do alot of brazing with 45% silver.  Brass to stainless.  When rebrazing a new head on a torch, there is nothing better than making it look like a "factory braze job".OAdoctorwww.regulatortorchrepair.com
