Hi Gang,Actually, I don't really know how new this info is, I did a search in the forums, but didn't find anything posted here about this setup.Anyway, as a few of you probably know by now from my first post, I'm workingmyself into a Mig rig and spool gun for welding aluminum. Just happened tostumble across this "Ready Welder II" article tonight, and thought maybesome of you guys might like to read about it. Here's the URL with the article:http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/Readywelder/Looks like a cool alternative or option for some folks, and with the battery setup,no problem finding the amperage you need to weld almost anything. Has anyone had experience with one of these?Anyway, me thinks it's a pretty nifty little setup.Patrick
Reply:That's a better tutorial than the ReadyWelder site has on their welder.......It really shows off the guns abilities...Thanks for the link. You can also attach the gun to some welders so it can be used as a regular spool gun which makes it pretty nifty. They were originally used by off road guys and the military for years, but they are gaining quite a following in all sorts of industry uses as they are being developed with more functions.
Reply:I just bought one today, haven't had a chance to test it out but it looks pretty well made. I saw it on Craigslist for $200 (new, never used) and then saw that review the next day and figured it was a decent deal. I plan to use it as a spool gun mostly on my HH 187.HH 187Miller Bluestar1EAHP AlphaTig 200X
Reply:You got a great deal on it.... You might find you like the portability away from the HH187 as well. Good Score!
Reply:I have had one for a few years. Even posted up here on this site about it. I have yet to actually hook it up and even run a bead with it. So far I have never broken anything offroad. I know it's a matter of time.I got one with all the bells and whistles *that they offer*, so I guess that would be a contactor. heheheLincoln Power Mig 210MP MIGLincoln Power Mig 350MP - MIG and Push-PullLincoln TIG 300-300Lincoln Hobby-Weld 110v Thanks JLAMESCK TIG TORCH, gas diffuser, pyrex cupThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 101My brain
Reply:The only thing mine doesn't have is the cold switch..... I'll probably order one before I decide to use it for anything if it'll work with my model. It does have the 20' cables which should come in handy. Guess it doesn't have the all the battery cables either but I never plan to use it with batteries. I think it's the 10250 model.HH 187Miller Bluestar1EAHP AlphaTig 200X |
