I picked up another SA200 welder last night. I found a great deal and it was close to my house. Its going to be a challenge but its all good. This will be number 4 for me and I'm keeping this one. I really wanted a shorthood and a redface but this was a great deal so I'm happy.I'm going to document the repair and restoration at my website www.sa200.orgPics to follow.http://www.facebook.com/groups/sa200weldersCurrent machines:Hobart G600 Powered by 1967 Chrysler LH-318 (Project)Hobart GF-250(Traded)68 Redface81 Blackface

Reply:I posted a new short video and a short explanation of what was going on at the restore page www.sa200.org/repair.html. Basically I'm trying to get a compression reading but the battery is too weak.I'm going to need some solid core wires and a carburetor. If anyone has any please let me know. This is a budget build btw. Also, I have a question about the 1 wire alternator setup. I have plenty of GM alternators lying around but I seem to remember a thread where someone said the 1 wire GM alternator wasn't like the alternator you would find on a car. There was something different, something about self-exciting. Can someone give me some input on that?Last edited by shanghyd; 09-21-2010 at 10:48 PM.http://www.facebook.com/groups/sa200weldersCurrent machines:Hobart G600 Powered by 1967 Chrysler LH-318 (Project)Hobart GF-250(Traded)68 Redface81 Blackface |
