I was interested in building an upright smoker for a while. It just seemed to be easier to store than a big "tanker" style smoker. Since I only smoke 2 or 3 times per year, I decided to go with this. I wanted enough room to feed a lot of people, but not too big where I couldn't move it by hand. I bought the wheels and handles from a surplus store, and the door thermometer from the local stuff-mart store. Every couple of years, I need to do some maintenance on it, so i just push it like a dolly into my garage and do my maintenance. I actually built this a few years ago and have since repainted it a couple times and put a tongue on it to pull with my mower. I use the high heat paint of course. the only time I wished it was bigger was earlier this year when we smoked deer bacon in it..... 100 pounds of it! It just barely fit.....with the water pan out. If I can do it, I'll post my You Tube link on here of the Deer bacon instructional for those of you who like to process their own deer and want to see this smoker in action. Attached Images

Reply:Damn I'd like to try some of that stuff... maybe if I get a deer this year I'll build a smoker... lolNever argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with years of experience.
Reply:CaptainMan that bacon looks great. Anything with pork and deer is good in my book.Bacon wrapped deer tenderlion on the grill is probably my favorite. Any chance we can see some pictures of the smoker build? I am looking to build one this winter. I was thinking of using propane/ air compressor tanks but your design looks good.Have a great day.BrianBrianLincoln Mig 215Miller 211Victor Torch SetMiller Maxstar 200SDMiller Syncrowave 250DX Tig runnerMiller Trailblazer 302 running on LPMiller Extreme 12 VS SuitcaseEllis 1600 BandsawMiller xmt350 CC/CVLincoln Vantage 300
