so i was working on a trailer today, doubling the height of the sides, and my hobart 250 was running great then all of a sudden it started eating tips. when i say eating tips i mean the wire burns into the tip and it does it so often that ill have to change tips every 20 or 30 minutes. i must be doing something wrong to continually blow tips.I break things for a living...
Reply:feed problems.....
Reply:Yup, sounds like a feed issue.  Check the liner, it may be kinked and is getting hung up.  What kind of material you welding?  For stainless and alu its good to go a size larger on the tip, for stainless because as the tip get hot it likes to grab the wire, and for aluminum because the oxides build up so quick..Have we all gone mad?
Reply:im welding on 1/8" 2x2 angle mild steel.ill replace the liner tommorrow, time for me to go do some scuba divingI break things for a living...
