I have a job for a restaurant. I need to weld thin 18-8 stainless basket. from what I found out, 18-8 is like 304. can my trialblazer tig weld as long as I have the torches? I dont know if I needed the HF-251D-1. also im planning to use 308L filler rod.
Reply:YES you can. Scratch start. How low does your machine go? You will not go over 50 amps.Does it have an option for a remote or touch start tig?I welded a frier part today. I used .045 316 filler. I can do it with out a foot pedal, but its easier with one. The customer wanted it Migged. I said it had to be tigged.... and I did. V160-S plugged in to 110v. Gas lens, pure argon, foot pedal. I did not have back gas. I just cleaned it up.Bring a flap disk and wire wheel.I don't know much about the blue ones....David Real world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.

Reply:Go with the 308, unless you're needing to stay within certain "metal chemistry" parameters. 308 is probably the cheaper filler (of the two) that works fine for general stainless welding."SOUTHPAW" A wise person learns from another persons mistakes;A smart person learns from their own mistakes; But, a stupid person.............never learns. |
