found out it was my sister-in-laws birthday last Sunday. Got home from Church and ran into the shop. Found a chunck of 16"x1/4" casing pipe, a one foot scrap of 1/4" plate. Grabed the soap stone and went to sketching. heated it for color, hammered it for texture, sprayed high temp clear on it. In an hour it was ready to deliver. Attached Images

Reply:thanks guys! I have always worked with wood and wanted to build a smoker so I bought a cracker box last fall and a millermatic this summer. growing up we always made the gifts in the wood shop (Dad was a teacher, he always told me before I made something to look at the person and get insperation). Its always been straight lines and fine wood. Now that i have found metal and welding, its a new media, and I have no idea were being artsy came from. I work on computers all day and this is the way I unwind in the evenings along with building smokers.here is the first piece I did a couple weeks ago.

Reply:very creative, you def have some ability when it comes to art work  nice job
Reply:That's great. Did you have a sore arm after putting all the hammer marks on it?
Reply:Nice work.
Reply:Be careful, this stuff is addictive......oh oh, look's like your too far gone already. Nice work.If you don't want to stand behind our Troops, feel free to stand in front of them.
Reply:Beautiful work JLuke...its too easy to look at welding as a means of production, not as art...you're doing the artistic side proud!  Keep it up and keep posting your work
Reply:Looks great Jluke, it seems like it just gets eaiser to create things with every new piece, atleast it seems that way for me. Once again, excellent..
Reply:yes, it is an addiction.!it is amazing what a torch, anvil, hammer and water can do to metal.I have to get back to building "me" a smoker.
Reply:great looking pieces.  Definately opens up some new avenues with metal.
