Reply:Thanks for all the good input guys.
Reply:The big windows scare me. If they can't see it, they won't know to steal it.It is a really nice workplace though"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:A big shop dog can take care of thieves...........
Reply:Farmersamm, its funny you say that because there is a german shepherd living there now Most of the "people" in that area stay away from dogs. The fence keeps im in the lot also.
Reply:here is one for youMexican Lion! This is the true story of a Garage Owner in the Southwest. ( New Mexico ) He was sick and tired of thugs breaking into his garage shop to steal tools, etc. So he came up with this idea. He put the word out that he had a new Mexican Lion that would attack anyone that would break in or climb his fence. Would-be thieves saw the "Lion" from a distance and fled the scene.. have funTom Attached Images
Reply:I could use that lion.
Reply:That's awesome. Both the shop and the "lion" I've got Pit Bulls, but they are the worse guard dogs ever. I need chihuahua to guard them!!!200amp Air Liquide MIG, Hypertherm Plasma, Harris torches, Optrel helmet, Makita angle grinders, Pre-China Delta chop saw and belt sander, Miller leathers, shop made jigs etc, North- welders backpack.
Reply:Holy crap, thats a guard animal! Guess I could sleep there with my toy(Glock 22), if I have a huge problem with theft. But the guy I got this shop from said even the 10 years it sat vacant it was only broke into once (stole nothing and tossed the place). there was even aluminum I beams sitting out back that have never been touched. I did have ADT put an alarm in, and want to get some cameras from HF. But with the pooch and the alarm I think were good.
Reply:That shop is fantastic. I'd volunteer to work cleanup there for free, just to hang out and learn tips and tricks.Congrats!-az-(BTW, I have a little Dachshund, that has a VOICE man. I've had big, medium and small dogs, but this little guy has a VOICE that will scare the crap out of anyone!)

Reply:Oh yea, I had some leftover white paint. That bay door needed it BAD. I have a steel door for the man door, just needs trimmed a tad. Attached Images
Reply:It's amazing what a coat of paint on the doors can do for the appearance of a building. I recently powerwashed the shop and house and painted the entry doors. The neighbors all thought I had repainted the whole place overnight. You might want to consider getting the "house number" done at your decal shop in a font large enough to be seen from the street. It makes it a lot easier for customers and god forbid the need, police/fire/and ambulance to find the place. I recently had to call the ambulance for my mother when she fell and cut her leg. I couldn't get the bleeding to stop (blood thinner meds) and the ambulance went by the house once before I could run out and flag them down. I re-lettered the mail box the next day!LOOKING GOOD!RogerOld, Tired, and GRUMPYSalesman will call, Batteries not included, Assembly is required, and FREE ADVICE IS WORTH EXACTLY WHAT YOU PAY FOR IT!Dial Arc 250HFThunderbolt 225 AC/DCAssorted A/O torches

Reply:That is a great shop - plenty of room to maneuver awkward pieces. I especially like "the help". My 13 year old like to pick up the torch and grinder when he can. There is nothing so sweet as working shoulder to shoulder with your son on a project. You got good advice on the spouse too - on our 20th year married. Reply:Your place is looking good. I'm currently hunting some new larger shop space, I hope I can find something even half as nice as that without breaking the bank.I like the new company name, too. Nothing against those that do, but the ol' "(insert name)'s welding" is well used. A good name can really help set your shop apart from the rest. (Providing, of course, that you do good work to uphold that good name.)Keep diggin' you're doing well it seems.Brian LeonardAppalachian Ironworks L.L.C.434 Long Branch Rd, Marshall, NC 28753828 649 9966828 702 [email protected]
Reply:Thanks brian, Yea if you find a place grab it! I didnt really want to spend the coin on a new huge shop so I started looking and found this gem. It took some juggling with the banks but I now own it free and clear. |
