Many New Posts are dealing with the how to do it subjects. So, if it's permitted, I'm putting in this link for those who want/need a tutorial set that can be done at home.If it's not permitted - then just ignore this!http://www.thewelderslens.com/page20/page20.htmlHas anyone heard of The Welders Lens. It is a website that produces articles, videos, and eBooks on welding. You have to check this out at www.thewelderslens.com    I haven't seen anything quite like this.Have any of you?Last edited by DannyC; 02-17-2012 at 03:59 PM.
Reply:Check out Jody's videos over at welding tips and tricks. Good stuff.Welding everything, from the crack of dawn to a broken heart.

Reply:I mentioned quite a while ago that it would be good to put together this infoin an organized way. Stickies are good but not good enough. This forumis big enough and valuable enough to move to the next level  - the organizersof this forum could define a structure of tutorials/welding info which could bea reference for the whole the web but it needs a bit of thinking and planning onthe topics/input/editing etc. it could be done. Lots of people suggest fornewbies to take courses and I agree to that but there are cases when this is not possibleand material could be used to support newbies and the experienced. There's a heap of information in each post/thread but I feel what is needed is the info extracted and formed into a course/learning experience . It is possible to get this  information about the basics( what equipment, how to check things are working, equipment settings/why, different materials, techniques etc. etc.) + advance stuffbut the organizers of the forum need to do some work here and ask for help from the users and other sites which have good videos and info- I think it would benefit everyone. Also, I doubt experienced users would have anything against throwing in some timefor examples/videos if they were advertised.Just a few thoughts
Reply:+1 And if one of the pros can weld some coupons like they do in class to give everyone reference of what your weld should look like too.Torchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer
Reply:Very pricey. And how the heck would they know if you posted anything on another site in order to give you something free? No way would I provide a link like that. Don't even know if that is legal.Sounds like spam to me.Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li  ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea.
Reply:To me it seems a bit like spam too,  but i think the op is only trying to get his hands on the ebookI think a well constructed free online resource is definitely possible,  there is a lot of experience,  and knowledge on this forum. The information is out there,  it just needs to be bought together,  and organised.A good a-z set of videos would be awesome too,  but they can take time and resources to produce Some places have started,  or done it in a different way,  Jody at welding tips and tricks is brilliant,  and the mig-welding.Co.Uk forum have some good beginner stuff. I think I need to stop collection resources,  and start trying to learn everything in them! Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Reply:So, overall, the Welders Lens is OK or just so so?I'm looking at the other links as well.  Many fine tutorials here and there - I agree that the Web Owners should make a tutorial section. But that takes time so who knows - maybe it will happen.
Reply:Anyone else have input on The Welder's Lens? Seen a few links for it.The Welders LensBruce
Reply:Quit watching videos and get the hood on and practice.  One thing I notice is new welders think they can watch a video and save themselves hours of practice or just get up an running after running half a dozen beads...   I have laid hundreds of beads in the last month and gone through at least 100CF of Argon just practicing Aluminum TIG welding and am no where near ready to start on any major projects...  will find the experts more than willing to help you if you ask nice... you can probably find someone near you to help out...EDIT: well how about that,  I went and looked at the site after what I wrote about and guess what is printed in big red words on the home page“Fellow Welder,Would you like to save hours or even years off the time and money it could normally take for you to learn how to weld or become a better welder?”And the Link is spam as it basically is the site owner trying to sell his $100 welding video set...  Though is maybe a good set of videos, It does violate the Terms of Use of this forum... pretty underhanded too as he says you have to post a link to his page to get his "free" book.  This way he bypasses the normal filters that would block him spamming (advertising) his website on various pages and forums...Last edited by soutthpaw; 07-07-2012 at 12:06 AM.Tiger Sales:  AHP Distributor    www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P,  Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.  For Sale:  Cobra Mig 250 w/ Push-pull gun.  Lincoln Wirematic 250
Reply:I find alot of the you tube stuff help full. But like soutthpaw says MANY others have said, it takes time just welding as Im finding out. I wish I had time to go and take a class at the local tech school. Reading this site and seeing the work you guys do really helps me out. Not that Im doing anything like the work you all do, but it helps me for around the house fixing and making things for my garden tractors.Learning one rod at a time
