I have recently acquired a large industrial handrail job. I' think its time to move from elbows/fittings to a bender of some sort. I like the looks of the Baileigh RDB-250.. however I like the versatility of the much less expensive Hossfeld bender, although it doesn't appear to be all that fast for production work. Any of ya'all have any suggestions not only of the two I mention but maybe some others? I'm listening, Thanks.
Reply:I am very partial to the JD2 (read jd squared) benders. The model 4 with electric/hydraulic is very versatile, dies are relatively inexpensive and it is a beast of a machine. Outfitted with an electric stop it can make quite a few bends per hour and is very repeatable. There are other good ones on the market but the JD2 are one of the most popular and trouble free. Other suggestions would be JMR Manufacturing, Pro-Tools or  Ercolina for big bucks NC benders. Reply:Really depends on what you do, daily.  I have a hossfeld hydraulic and American bender.  I sold my jd2 because I don't bend much tubing.   The Jd2 is the better tube bender.  The hossfeld will  give better versatility for future jobs.  The hossfeld will do a fine job bending, though without some of the conveniences of the jd2. You will need hydraulics.  I would imagine most of you bend will be the same., so you will have the bender set up with stops.  The hosseld will make  clean long radius bends.  If production is the major concern then can you lease the baileigh.  Also, what about prefabbed/kit rail.
Reply:Tap welder.. can you elaborate regarding the prefabbed/kit? For my own curiosity reasons. And I don't have the demand for tube bending as much as pipe and flats and so on so on.. I'm leaning toward the Hossfeld thus far.
