hiim new to welding and im looking to fabricating my own gun stocks for my Ruger 10/22 (.22 caliber rifle). i have no plans to mass produce or resell these. its just for my own personal collection.i plan on using 16 gauge sheet metal and was wondering if this Harbor Freight Chicago Electric 90AMP wire feeder is okay. do you consider working with 16 gauge sheet metal a small or light job? i dont plan on doing anything thicker than 16 gauge. http://www.harborfreight.com/welding...der-68887.htmlthanksLast edited by defcon; 07-17-2012 at 01:21 PM.
Reply:16 ga is sheet metal imo. your welder will do fine if you can keep from blowing holes in it and want to grind/ buff/ polish all the welds. the downside to that machine is adjustment.Millermatic 250Lincoln 180TLincoln SP-135Miller Thunderbolt AC/DCThermal Arc 161SAirco 300 Heliwelder
Reply:That machine only has two heat adjustments, min and Max, you can easily blow through if your not careful. But it will definitely get the job done. http://www.philswelding.com |
