Is anybody familiar with Eastwood welding products? Ive been eyeing their 110/220 v plasma cutter. Its on sale right now for $599 and has excellent reviews. I need something that will cut through 1/4" steel. The price tag on the Hobarts, Millers, and Lincoln plasmas is too much for me.
Reply:I would spend $300 more and get the thermal dynamics cutmaster 42tackleexperts.comwww.necessityjigs.comhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/mach...dingequipment/
Reply:1. Anyone can post a review, who are the reviewers?2. I do not own a Plasma Cutter, but in my limited experience with the customer service and over the telephone technical support form the Hypertherm companty when I have been called upon to repair one; if I were to buy a plasma cutter with my own money, I would choose a Hypertherm.I offer three choices: Good, Fast, & Cheap. You may pick two.Hobart AC/DC StikMate LXHarbor Freight AD HoodHarbor Freight Industrial Chop SawDeVilbis 20 Gallon, 5 HP Compressor
Reply:Buy a hypertherm you  will save money and frustration in the long run.
Reply:So the therms are right at a grand? Ill probably have to hold out for a while.Last edited by bnew17; 07-17-2012 at 09:01 PM.
Reply:I know 2 guys who own the mig 175 they sell. They both use the hell out of them and both love them. That being said I waited an extra month and opted for a Hobart 210. The Eastwoods seem to have a very good warranty and customer service so who knows?? Best of luck in your choice.

Reply:I have a Eastwood tig 200,  I love it, it came with a 3 yr warranty,  I was actually surprised when I first used it, I thought it would b kinda cheesy. But its definitely a good product. I would b comfortable with buying their plasma cutter, and im halfway  considering getting one, I just don't really need one right now. http://www.philswelding.com
Reply:I bought the Eastwood plasma cutter in February, and it is a very nice machine.  I've used it mainly on auto body floor pans, etc. but I have cut some 1/8"steel with it and it worked fine.  I wanted a 'name brand' plasma, but I couldn't afford it, so I bought the Eastwood.  Read the reviews on their site and see what people think of it.  For what I've been using it for, it works just fine, and I think you'll be alright using it on 1/4" steel, although I'd recommend using it on 220 if you do.  Also, consider how much you'll be using it.  If you're going to be cutting a lot of steel every day, then you might want to consider a more powerful, name brand model.
Reply:It will slice through 1/4" steel like butter on 220V.  Never bothered to try 110V because it would be pointless since I have 220V, lol.Consumables don't last very long because the torch uses outdated technology, but they are pretty cheap.  A set of 10 swirl rings/10 electrodes/10 nozzles is less than $30 straight form china.
Reply:Oscar,You may want to check out my ebay page on my web site for consumables. I carry better ones then those cheap ones from China. And if you really want good consumables buy the Hypertherm max40 consumables for it.www.georgesplasmacuttershop.comPlasma Cutter and Welder Sales and Repairs--Ebay storeTec.Mo. Reply:If you are using the OEM type tips they are drag tips. Pipe tips will cut 1/2" a lot faster and cleaner.www.georgesplasmacuttershop.comPlasma Cutter and Welder Sales and Repairs--Ebay storeTec.Mo. Dealer Consumables for the PT and IPT torch's
Reply:Before you buy anything from eastwood look at the eastwood ebay page. Sales usually hit there first and still carry the same warranty. Reply:A pipe tip and a standoff makes cleaner cuts. Free hand for bevel cuts and piercing. Just remember the pipe tips do not touch the metal like the drag tips. Here are pictures of tips I carry for the Eastwood Plasma Cutter. The first is a standoff with a short pipe tip. Next is (lift to right) a short pipe tip, a long pipe tip, a short drag tip and a long drag tip.last is a long pipe tip installed Attached Imageswww.georgesplasmacuttershop.comPlasma Cutter and Welder Sales and Repairs--Ebay storeTec.Mo. Reply:Great pics and thanks for the info.  I didn't know you could literally drag the oem tip, as I always read you had to hold it about 1/16"-1/8" from the work piece.  Your parts on your Ebay look nice.  I'm eye'ing that standoff, or maybe even the roller guide.
