I graduated from school with a associate degree and can't land a decent job anywhere.Talked to a older gentlemen that told me to go get TIG cert. Is it worth my time to go get it? I can lay down decent beads on flat but haven't weld vertical up and overhead in awhile.
Reply:Absolutely.Does not mean it can travel with you from job to job though. What alloy do you want to qualify for?Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea.
Reply:I'm leaning towards AL. Recently nailed a AL weld test but they didn't want to pay me worth a damn.
Reply:Most of the places you apply are going to give you a "gate test"..... Holding a current cert may get you in the gate but they want to see you weld on their site with their equipment.Lincoln SA200's... at least 15 - 20. They come and go. Growing partial to the "Short Hoods" in my old age. Last count on Short Hoods was 13 in possession. |
