New guy. New into welding. Looking to buy some stuff. The helmet I want I can get for $350 shipped 2nd day costs $415 at all the local shops in my area. Is there a reason why stuff at Cyberwelds is so cheap?

Reply:From what I have been told some of the online suppliers do not stock anything. Everything is shipped direct so they have little overhead, and only need to make a small margin to make money.

Reply:I just received my second order from them. Super fast and excellent prices!!
Reply:I'm ordering a Jackson Truesight and I can get it shipped next day for $50 cheaper than getting anywhere here in Denver. Not that I'm going to pay for next day shipping. With free shipping, it's almost $140 cheaper if you add the tax I'd pay.

Reply:they have pretty good prices, but not so much better than my LWS on the big and moderate things that I don't support the little guys who've always treated me well. the little crap, they are a bit higher on the little things. sometimes I get there, sometime I order on line of other local stores.

Reply:So far the majority of my welding junk has been from them. Just picked up a 9100X and some 2% La tungstens to try the other day from Cyberweld. I'd spend more at the local welding shop, but my main "incentive" to go to there, the gas, is priced freaking nuts(1$/1CuFt Argon....) so I just hit up Laurel Gas for much better quotes. RobOxy prices for everything else are pretty average it would seem. But then it turns into a "why bother" when cyberweld beats RobOxy prices, sells better stuff, etc and shipping is overnight with them only a few hundred miles away. The only argument I could see is getting a machine at a local shop and paying a premium if they are willing to go the extra mile when things break, and even then it can't be a ton higher.HTP Invertig 221-DV -- get's dragged everywhere.Syncro 200 -- "The Boat Anchor" at the lab.Lincoln 125 MIG

Reply:Consider the sales tax on the LWS. That makes cyberweld and other online places even more attractive.I've had zero problems out of cyberweld. I even had them call me to see if they sent me the wrong items (they didn't).I've bought a welder and plasma cutter from cyberweld. They never laid a hand on either machine. Your local guy, if he's a good one, will do a lot to make you happy. And your local guy eats the shipping damage for stuff he orders, you eat it if you order online. Sure you probably can do a return, but it's cumbersome. And your local dood has free hats and DONUTS "Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Oh yeah................Congress is about to take your tax free purchasing away, they're considering legislation which will require sales tax on ALL online purchases.I pay no tax at my LWS because I'm agriculture exempt, so for me it's a good deal"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
