Well, now that I have a Lincoln SP 175 Plus & a Hobart Handler 175, I need another cart for one or a combo cart for both of em.I've been looking for a good AC/DC stick welder on Craigslist, but they want a pretty penny for them. Knowing I will be looking & will find one someday, I designed this thing to carry my Hobart up higher & easier to reach. The Lincoln will sit beside it & after it's given to my son, I would like to get a small AC/DC Tig. I've looked at the different sizes of the inverters (Miller Diversion 165) I designed this to hold one of them beside the Hobart on the top shelf. The lower shelf was sized to hold a Lincoln Tombstone, a Hobart Stickmate or a Miller Trailblazer. Any one of the three will fit & can be attached. Here is what I ended up with. I don't have the steel for the shelves yet, as I wanted to build the frame first, then add the steel shelves. It has room for 2 shielding gas bottles too. Reply:Kind of nice Mark. But there's no way in h@!! that a Miller Trailblazer will fit under there. 45 1/2 inches long by 28 inches tall (not including exhaust pipe) by about 18 1/8 inches and ~600 pounds for the previous version gas model. Current Trailblazer is even bigger! The best laid schemes ... Gang oft agley ...

Reply:Got it all welded together & the shelves welded on. Secured the welders to the top shelf with 1/8" strap bent to go into some case screws at the base of both welders. Screwed the straps down & the welders don't move side to side. Nice thing about this cart is the welders are up higher & I can see the adjustments easier. Also I don't have to sit on the floor to change the wire either. Here it is..................1. Base Shelf center support2. Close up of the weld3. Another close up of the support weld4. Tank Base now has a shelf & center support under the steel5. Underside of shelf weld. Reply:Last batch of the cart. Now it only needs paint, was thinking of the black wrinkle paint. I need to weld in the bottle supports onto the uprights. I'm getting them cut for the curve of the bottle so they support the bottles better.1. A different view of the side by side shot2. Reply:Well, was finally able to fill the void at the bottom of the welding cart I built a while back. Was at my sister's house in Lake Havasu AZ last weekend, saw an ad on Craigslist about a stick welder for $80.00.Took a run over to see it, drove away with it in the back of the truck. It's a Century, came with 5' leads & a Jackson fixed shade hood. Also had one 1/8" rod of 6013.Had time today to finally mount it on the cart, now the cart is full. Will have to build some lead holders, get some longer leads (probably 2 gauge @ 25') and a different ground clamp. The stinger looks like a 200 amp one, not much damage is on it either. I have to order some rod, was thinking of some 6011, 6013 & 7014 in 3/32" & 1/8". Those should get me by as much stick welding I plan on doing. Reply:That is the exact, same machine I started with. No, that is the exact, same unit, how did you get it? Just kiddiiiinnnnng!Mark, I am wondering how you like the Hobart, is there much difference between that and the Lincoln? We have an old beat up Handler 175 at work that I might make an offer on if it is a good machine in general. Thanks!City of L.A. Reply:I like it alot. I've used it to weld 1/4" angle together & it does a pretty good job. The arc is much more crisp & "hot" than the Lincoln, the size of the puddle is about 1/2 again larger than the Lincoln.......... even on the lower settings.I like the Lincoln because it has such a soft arc, small puddle & it has the infinite settings - both voltage & wire speed. I use it more for the real thin stuff with .023 wire in it. I have a stainless steel smoker going together with .063 steel, that I'm planning on using the Lincoln on.Now with the stick welder, I have up to 1/2" covered. I have run up against the duty cycle on the Hobart welding 3/16" plate. Found out the fan comes on, but the trigger is dead until it is done with the cool down. Then it works just like it's supposed to.I bought the Hobart new in 2004 for almost $650.00, the Lincoln I got in 2009 for $75.00, now the Century for $80.00. I actually like the Hobart best. The tool list has a TIG & Plasma Cutter on it along with a vertical mill.MarkI haven't always been a nurse........Craftsman 12"x36" LatheEnco G-30B MillHobart Handler 175Lincoln WeldandPower 225 AC/DC G-7 CV/CCAdd a Foot Pedal to a Harbor Freight Chicago Electric 165A DC TIG PapaLion's Gate Build
Reply:I need to get longer cables, but don't know which ends these are. They aren't Dinse, as there is no lug on them. Tweco maybe? I'll have to stop at the local welding shop to see what they have. I'll take in the cables when I go.MarkI haven't always been a nurse........Craftsman 12"x36" LatheEnco G-30B MillHobart Handler 175Lincoln WeldandPower 225 AC/DC G-7 CV/CCAdd a Foot Pedal to a Harbor Freight Chicago Electric 165A DC TIG PapaLion's Gate Build

Reply:Nice job i did that exact same thing with my machines i was tired of breaking my back
Reply:worked out nicely that the spools are on opposite sides for the hobart vs lincon, though I suppose if they were on the same side, you could have them facing in opposite directions. How do you power these machines? plugs for a 50 amp outlet? 3 outlets?
Reply:I use an extension cord off the dryer outlet. It's a 30 amp circuit, gonna get a 50 amp circuit run in the garage this winter. The extension cord that came with the Century welder has a 50 amp plug in on it, but a regular 3 prong outlet. It won't hurt anything if I have a 50 amp circuit, but only pull up to 30 amps for the MIG's. Then I can get full power from the Century. Input amps are rated at 48.MarkI haven't always been a nurse........Craftsman 12"x36" LatheEnco G-30B MillHobart Handler 175Lincoln WeldandPower 225 AC/DC G-7 CV/CCAdd a Foot Pedal to a Harbor Freight Chicago Electric 165A DC TIG PapaLion's Gate Build
Reply:Great cart! Very well thought out. Nice to have all your machines on one cart rather then rolling out 3 separate ones.
