Tool belt? Tool holder?

Does anyone use like a tool belt of some sort to hold their striker, tape measure, adjustable wrench, pliers, etc? I was thinking about getting this and possibly modifying it a little bit (cutting it in half and reattaching the belt). Is there something better to use?
Reply:I've got the habit of wearing my quick release belt with a bolt bag on it aswell as a snap holder for my striker. This came from working around the old timers coming and always have tools within arms length. Yhis became a habit that I normally continue while laying out and fabbing in my own shop.

Reply:Either should work, but not something I'd want to track around with all day up at the shop. Each of us is different, with differing needs. If it were me, and it's not, I'd use one of the bucket boss type carriers for a 5-gallon bucket/sheetrock mud container. If it looks like it may work at least as good and fit your needs, give me a shout and I'll be more than happy to send one off your way for free...a sort of new, old, more or less unused/unwanted Xmas gift from my mother-in-law. Reply:I couldn't see using a nailbag or pouch like one, would just be a convenient place to collect sparks, slag, chips, burning bits of whatever.  But thats if I were wearing it - different applications, different rules. I know a guy who does mini-tig or micro-tig (either way its cool as hell) at an old one piece school desk in his spare bedroom and usually wears shorts.  I get by with a tape on my instructors belt and an old estwing hammer loop.  sleeve shoulder pockets for soapstones, striker on an old brass diaper pin.  Tools stay on the truck until it is needed, then only what is needed comes out, goes back as soon as its job is done.When any government, or any church for that matter, undertakes to say to its subjects, "This you may not read, this you must not see, this you are forbidden to know," the end result is tyranny and oppression, no matter how holy the motives.

Reply:I've got no hips to hold up a belt with heavy tools in them. One of the best suggestions I ever got came from an old Nam vet who was a framer. He used a surplus set of old LBE ( Load Bearing Equipment) to hold up pouches. The shoulder straps take all the weight and the belt is easy to adjust for different clothing thicknesses.  You just buy the individual pouches that you prefer and add them to the LBE where you want..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size.
