I'm right handed but but can do just about anything but wright lefty. When I'm getting tired I can swap torch holding hands without much trouble. So this never occured to me. If you are a righty which do you prefere holding the torch with your right hand or the filler rod.I habitually start with the torch in my right hand but find I have much better control of the filler rod with my right hand. Just my stupid thought of the day

Reply:I'm left handed. I hold the torch in my right hand and feed rod with my left. I've never tried it the other way, I'll have to give it a go as I'm sure I'll need to some day if I get into a tight spot.Brad GeorgeCurrent Equipment:AIRCO Heliwelder IV 300Amp Model - Total Awesomeness!Old 120v Hobart Handler MIGVarious grinders, cutting tools, hammers, clamps, ect..."I'm an amateur welder with lots left to learn..."

Reply:Only two things in the world I can do left handed. One of them is weld. Reply:I usually, but not always, MIG right handed. However I TIG with the torch in my left, since I'm better at feeding wire with my right.Last edited by Joshfromsaltlake; 08-05-2012 at 12:20 AM.

Reply:I'm right handed. Torch in the right hand, rod in the left. Either foot on the pedal. I can switch hands in a pinch.
Reply:The torch requires more accuracy and dexterity, put your best hand there.Welding/Fab Pics: www.UtahWeld.com
