Here are a couple deer carts I made.  The small one I actually made 15 years ago using an arc AC stick welder.  I've recently made a few modifications and painted it.  The larger one I made with folding handles....it's a tri-fold design.  I also put a receiver hitch on the axle so I can slide a tongue in it and pull it behind an ATV (if I ever get one).I used 3/4" square tubing to keep them as light as possible.  I've hauled 2 full size deer on them without any problems.  I got the wheels and tires for the large cart from a dumpster at the local bike shop.  They sold them to me for $5 each.  They are front wheels off of mountain bikes. The 20" bike wheels on the small cart I got for FREE from another bike shop dumpster.  Make sure you ask instead of dumpster diving (diving is illegal).   I recently had to buy new tires for the small cart, but I did manage to get 15 years out of the old used ones.  I'm always looking for old bikes for free on Craigslist or $10 garage sale bikes for the front wheels.  Both carts hinge to fold in half.  the small one in the pic does close flat.... I think I had something (chain) inbetween...oops.   I had painted the small one hunters orange at one time, but decided to paint them green in order to hide them in the weeds when I use it for duck hunting and hauling my belly boats on public land.  I also ziptie orange plastic construction fencing over it to help keep things from falling through.  I'll put the fencing back on when the paint isn't so tacky.   here's another tip:  if you find a free or cheap bike, cut the fork plates off and use them which will save you time by not having to make them from flat metal.  the fork plates (slotted for the wheels to nut on) are usually pure steel... unlike the rest of the bike.  Those little pieces are like gold to me.  Making slots that perfect by my own hand is nearly impossible.ALSO...  by making forks, instead of using cart wheels with an axle, I have WAY more clearance.  I can go over small trees and brush without hanging up on a low riding axle. Reply:Oh ya.... also save the grips off of found bikes as well!  Those things can run $10 or better.  I was loving it when my kids were growing out of their kiddie bikes.  I have some great 16 and 18" wheels, as well as other fun parts.  It's funny to see the looks on their faces when I was out cutting them up in the shop. I'm lucky to have 2 boys = 2 nice front wheels without one being pink.   I already have my eye on their new bikes. LOL!http://www.youtube.com/user/c599209/videos
Reply:Very cool and highly practical.
