hello everyone,i have a chance to get a miller dialarc hf-p machine with foot peddle. it looks to be in very good condition. what is the most this machine is worth? 300, 400, 600.how does the dialarc compair to the 330ab/p?can the dialarc do all the same stuff as the 330 is it limited to cetain things the 330 is not?is it a better or not as good weldershould i get a 330 insteadcan i still get all the parts if something stops workingthanks
Reply:That's the right price range for a DialArc HF and a very good deal if it is in good condition and comes with the leads, torch, pedal, and cooler. I got mine with everything except the cooler, for about $200 (part of a package deal) but mine was in very rough shape. I would have gladly paid up to about $800 for it if it was in better condition. Still, a thorough cleaning inside and out, plus some body work and a paint job made it into a pretty good welder. Most of the electrical problems with it were in the foot pedal, which turned out to be fairly easy to fix. Parts for DialArcs are a bit scarce, but can still be found. The TIG torch that came with bmine also required work. I ended up replacing the water lines and power lead, plus cleaning lime deposits from the cooling passages in the torch. It had been cooled for many years from well water. I then built a cooler by converting a beverage carbonator.  Including the cooler build I have about $600 invested. It paid for itself with the very first TIG job and has been a very reliable and easy to use welder for the 3 years that we've owned it. Here is a link to my original post on it.http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=34034I have no experience with the 330ab/p welders. Zapster, another member here, uses one every day. Perhaps he can provide some input about the one that he uses, or just search for his posts. I'm sure you will find them interesting. Reply:I'm "bartering" on an exact set-up.The issue is the guy doesn't have it hooked up to power. He's only located about 30 miles from me so shipping is not an issue. My offer to him was $300 for EVERYTHING in the package. It appears that he has enough pieces and parts to TIG and stick weld.Lincoln SA200's... at least 15 - 20. They come and go. Growing partial to the "Short Hoods" in my old age. Last count on Short Hoods was 13 in possession.
Reply:the expensive parts if you buy them separately are the cooler and pedal.  I just got a real nice new model 18 torch of ebay for $110.    Oh and copper welding leads are expensive too.   I have owned both machines, I like the 330 better but you will be happy with either one..Tiger Sales:  AHP Distributor    www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P,  Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.  For Sale:  Cobra Mig 250 w/ Push-pull gun.  Lincoln Wirematic 250
