I have a part I'm building they is a piece of 1x2x14g steel tube that is 55" long and has a gradual cure about 3-4" deep across it. It is curved the easy way not the hard way. I have the piece in a jig currently holding the curve. What would be the best way to "stress relieve" it? So that when I take it out of the jig is holds the curve. I know going and actually having it stress relieved would work, but that is not an option.
Reply:I would over-bend the tube a slight amount, and see if the curve is correct after it "springs"back to a relaxed position. Do this over-bend process in small increments, until you attain the correct shape.Bgbkwndo.
Reply:I wont be able to over bend it. It's not a consistent radius and the jig would not allow me to over bend it any how.
