G'day all, got a regonal worldskills comp coming up and have to weld adownhand fillet ( Low Hydrogen, either 7016 or 7018)Horizontal open butt ) Low Hydrogen, 16 or 18Verticle fillet (MIG)Horizontal open butt, MIGThe downhand and verticle up are on 12mm mild steeland the horizontals are on 10mm.So does anyone have any advice for me, I seem to go well at all the welds, I'm just not sure which to use when it comes to the low hydrogen 16 or 18? I've been welding with 16's and preffer them (On AC current).
Reply:Use what you're most comfortable with. For me, that's 7018 on DC+. I never use it vert-down.Good luck in the contest! Reply:7018 virticle down can be difficult. Your going to have to move fast. I always run 7018 virticle up.JasonLincoln Idealarc 250 stick/tigThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Miller Bobcat 250Torchmate CNC tableThermal Arc Hefty 2Ironworkers Local 720 |
