The customer bought the blade with a one-size-fits-all mounting system. Unfortunately I didnt have my camera the day I cut off all the mounting plates. According to them, they would slide the bucket into two outward plates and tie the blade onto the bucket using chains and binders. We ordered bucket blanks from the same company who made the quick coupler. Made a profile template and cut the blanks to fit. Ended up being a good job and attaches in about one minute. Reply:Very nice. We thought about one of those setups for our big loader years ago. The QD setup makes it easy to swap between a plow blade with power angle, the snow pusher shown, forks for moving pallets of salt and spreaders, and the bucket for loading trucks.Edit: I was going to say it's a bit late in the season to be fitting QD mounts on a plow then I noticed you were in NC! I bet they make good money with that when the snow flies. There can't be all that many in the state. Around here most shopping centers have 1 or 2 minimum. Especially after this years record totals near me.Last edited by DSW; 02-27-2010 at 08:26 PM..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Good Stuff!!I love snowplows...The bigger the better!...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:Am I right in guessing that you had to narrow the attachment point to the blade?Looks like alot of wing hanging out there. Not a problem with good operators...Real nice work, by the way.
Reply:Pretty slick. So now they can drop their bucket and change to the plow with no additional adapters?"The things that will destroy America are prosperity at any price, peace at any price, safety first instead of duty first, the love of soft living and the get rich quick theory of life." -Theodore Roosevelt
Reply:I used to sell protech pushers at my old job. Good job on the modification. But I really try to talked customers out of installing those mounts. On a 16' to 20' wide pusher the quick disconnect style mounts put a great deal of stress on the loader. If you clip a curb on one end, it will twist the disconnect or the loader arms as the pusher can not break free of the machine. On a standard snow pusher the mounting bars slip over the bucket and you use a chain and binder to secure it to the bucket. If you read the owners manuals it states to use grade 40 chain to act as a shear bolt for a lack of a better term. So if you hit something the chain snaps and the pusher breaks free. Preventing damage to the loader. So just warn your customer of what can happen to thier loader if they should hit something. BTW don't ask me why I know all of this. Reply:Awesome work! I welded a Volvo quick coupler on a 14' Protech some years ago. The steel they got me was not as nice as what you had to work with, but it worked out fine.Adding one more point to Xtreme Fabrication's post. With this mount the operator has to keep the bucket level and no down pressure and check it often. Where we plowed I was told there was iron chips or shavings in the concrete. If you seen the concrete up close you could definately tell something was in the mix. Any ways, because there is no play in that mount, I have seen those 1" thick side shoes disappear in twelve hours. This concrete played he!! on steel. Regular pickup plows would trash both sides of a steel cutting edge in one average snowfall season."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! Reply:Originally Posted by fchesser78My engineering question would be: Would the extra weight thfar forward on the machine not cause stress as well... the customers complaints are lengthy attachment times and weaker power due to the added weight. In this case you eliminate the weight of the bucket completely and bring the pusher much closer to the machine, They are using a poly edge(not metal) probably 1 1/2 in thick so it has some give. This machine is used at the Int. Airport nearby on the runway...so there ere virtually no obstacles but anything is possible! Thanks for your comments!

Reply:Originally Posted by Xtreme FabricationIt wasn't a possible scenerio. I said don't ask me why I know. Our custom trashed his quick coupler. Sold the pusher and bought a regular style with chains. You don't loose a lot of manuverablity with a bucket mount. I used to have a major snow contract. We had 15 Protech snow pushers on that job and they range from a 8' to 12' skidsteer, 10' to 12' backhoes, and 16' loader models.
Reply:Thanks Extreeme Fabrication... you make all your points valid. In my defense I'm merely a proudful welder/fabricator who does a job the "Big Man" asks for. I dont do any thinking, or give any advice for the most part... Just there to do a GOOD JOB. They meet about it and I make it happen!Time for a beer
