I was taught something by an old boilermaker years ago, about a use for shoe handle wire brushes. Does anyone know of a use in welding? Other than just brushing? Just Curious??? if they still teach this....

Reply:Good Try!  Ok here goes...When laying out a "bull nose", also called a pipe cap.  Use the shoe handled wire brush curvature to mark the line from the base line cut, to the center cut that is marked on the end of the pipe. The end of the brush, is placed on the end of the pipe (the center cut) to mark out the curved line to the base line.  After the pipe is cut, the ears are heated and bent to form a pipe cap. This procedure makes a fine looking pipe cap. Hope this helps  Ps. This procedure works for some reducers also.6"XX P5P8 6G

Reply:Cofe, I'm lost too.Sounds like it'd be leaving the complex lay-out for the cut of an unknown size expensive pipe, up to the random shape of a 99 cent brush handle.Good Luck Originally Posted by weldbeadthey are aerodynamic and are good to throw at a woodchuck when you see one in the yard...?
