High end welding machines like esab , miller , lincoln , are beyond the financial affordability of most normal people here in new zealand but now and then I see older machines coming for sale for affordable prices out of old engineering shops and stuff now when I say old I mean old stuff . Like recently I saw a cheap old hobart 310amp acdc 3-phase tig for sale that had been pulled out of an old engineering shop . I did not buy it but it got me wondering are these old machines worth looking at are they servicable and can parts be gotten for them , do the manufacturers still want anything to do with their old machines?
Reply:Miller still supports some of the older machines with online manuals and parts lists and wiring schematics.  Hobart doesn't make or sell big industrial stuff anymore, just entry level machines.   Stick with Miller or Lincoln and you will be able to find parts for it most likely.  If you have the juice to run one of those old beasts, there are some very good deals out there.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:Are older machines that are still in working order worth considering?
