Gas Prices Skyrocket

I went to my local Airgas for Cylinder refills and O MY GOD! The prices doubled on September First. Did everyones Gas go up?

Reply:Mine's gone up a bit, but only about a dollar to 32$. They're Airgas supplied in MD, Laurel.We've all seen gas prices flux a ton even in one area. Heck, the reason I drive so far to Laurel is robert's 10min away wants 70$+ for an 80Ar. Reply:Name of the game frellers, when you're in the jaws of a nut cracker you crack, and the gas companies who produce the gas are there to make you pay for their profits.....make no error, they make the gas at a cost that would astonish you, then when it gets down to your level that's where it hurts.I don't suppose there is a device you could buy that could produce liquid air and then filter off the gasses that you need.......something like that would rock the gas industry to it's heels....freedom to the slaves of the gasgiants.A device that could compress ordinary air and liquify it so it could be stored then split to make the one big user gas......king Argon.They have devices like that, that are portable and produce Nitrogen, Oxygen or CO2 etc, by using a filter to remove the gas that's required.......why not a smaller device doing the same for Argon.You can buy a small device that produces hydrogen and oxygen by the electrolysis of water and it does not cost an arm and a leg.......it can be made in various sizes for the quantity needed.Argon is a different matter, it has to be removed from the compressed liquified gas by boiling off at the required temperature, very scientific, but not rocket science by any means.Anybody have any knowledge of an air compressor set-up that will produce liquid air and process it?Ian.
Reply:Just wonder if our manufacturers/producers of our gasses are not being charged a tax/fee by our government and this is contributing to the higher prices we as customers pay. I just purchased another 125 cu.ft cylinder outright and fill of argon gas.  The price of the cylinder was $199.00 and the argon fill was $35.99 each tank, as I also exchanged an empty 125 cu. in. tank of argon.  The HazMat charge was $3.00. We also have, here in NJ a 7% sales tax.  So 2 fills of argon @ $71.98, 1 new 125 cu. in. tank @ $199.00, HazMat @ $3.00 plus 7% sales tax @ $14.14 equals $288.12.  Not complaining, just saying, IT IS WHAT IT IS!!   Best  Bob

Reply:Yep, Airgas in Hawaii... Also pay $240.00 for an Ar 125, I go through 3 of those a week.
