hi all, i brought my first welder last night as i have always wanted 2 learn the skill, i paid a little fee of 30 pounds for a sealey mightymig 100xt mk2 welder???? after setting it up i started my hand on a few pieces oof sccrap, well wasnt good and the problem is the weld flux has got stuck in the liner, and both ends are snaped, i snaped the reel side by trying 2 pull it bck through, is there a way of me getting it out or is a new liner needed????? please give some advise?
Reply:Have you tried to disassemble the gun yet? There may be a bit sticking out the end of the liner, behind the diffuser. If the wire is definitely broken at each end of the liner, it's probably not worth the effort to get it out. There's probably a good reason that the wire is stuck, like the liner may be kinked, which would mean that it needs to be replaced anyway. You should take out the liner and inspect it for damage.Last edited by fortyonethirty; 10-03-2012 at 09:53 AM.Ian TannerKawasaki KX450 and many other fine tools
Reply:I have taken the gun apart, and disconected the other end in the box, the earth strap, the gas liner, and flux liner, fired the compresser up and stuck an air line down it all for few mins, assembled it all and now seems be ok, but only using it 5 mins max on a few old panels!!! So its seems 2 be sorted.. My next question (worry) when i brought the welder it had no contact tips so i brought a packet,... Sealey tip 0.6mm tb14\15, but they dont seem 2 screw on the gun?? I have checked and i cant seem see anything that would stop it going in. Is it true that the .6 mm ones are the thinest they do?? If so why aint mine screwing in. Might seem a simple thing but i am a newbie 2 this welding stuff!! Many thanks |
