well i had to make up some window well covers for a customer. they have to be mounted on concrete block filled with concrete. figured i would mount to the concrete in the cores rather then the block itself just trying to figure the best anchors to use open to suggestions anyone mounted something like this before that way?350P 30A spool gun cut master 51  syncro 250 other stuff " take a dog off the street and make him prosper and he will not bite you sad the same cannot be said for man" i didnt use punctuation just to piss you off
Reply:How many are you going to use? Maybe some sleeve anchors with a countersunk head?IW Local 580 NY, NY
Reply:im figuring three anchors per side i haven't welded mounting tabs yet so its not set in stone lol ive just never mounted to the core concrete before so im not sure how it reacts to different anchors350P 30A spool gun cut master 51  syncro 250 other stuff " take a dog off the street and make him prosper and he will not bite you sad the same cannot be said for man" i didnt use punctuation just to piss you off
Reply:those slugged cores are about as solid as it gets with a block wall, Sleeve anchors/wedge anchors hold really well if it has to handle being tugged on/stood on. Red heads/ lead anchors hold about as well as normal concrete. I've used 4" tapcons into cored block and they hold really well.Basically you are anchoring into solid concrete so if it works in concrete it will work here, just remember you have 1 1/2" of block to go through first.
Reply:I'd say Tapcons also. By wells I presume you mean the fill will be holding them in place mostly anyway....Mike
Reply:You will have to drill a pilot hole to determine what is below the surface.Lincoln SA200's... at least 15 - 20. They come and go. Growing partial to the "Short Hoods" in my old age. Last count on Short Hoods was 13 in possession.
Reply:I use tapcons for tons of stuff. I keep a box with probably 400+ in assorted sizes on the truck full time and use them for everything from anchoring forms to hanging shelves. If it goes into concrete or block, 90+% of the time I'll use tapcons. They also make a similar product that is larger like a bolt that works well also. Sleeve and wedge anchors have their uses as well, usually for items that need frequent removal. But when it absolutely, positively needs to stay put... Epoxied in studs. If the block isn't filled, they make special screen sleeves designed to hold epoxied studs in hollow block and these will give you pretty much the max holding power the block is capable of..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:+1 for epoxy. If it's going to get wet, use epoxy or plastic screw inserts. If there is any doubt in the strength of the base material, like cracks or crumbling mortar, use epoxy. If you don't want to wait overnight, they also have fast curing acrylic epoxy, gets hard in about 30 min, I use that most of the time.Ian TannerKawasaki KX450 and many other fine tools

Reply:I have had my best luck setting things in concrete by putting in lag shields an then securing with tapcons into them.Dynasty 200DXPassport plus w/ spoolmate 100victor 315c oxy/(act and prop)Miller digital elitemilwaukee power tools
Reply:I'll recommend you to use zinc wedge anchors. In addition, drill the concrete block with hammer drills in the rotation mode as the size and shape of the drilled hole plays a major role in efficient installing of the wedges. Additionally, best brick anchors can also do the required job.
