I wanted to make a comfortable spring mounted motorcycle seat pan.I had made several in the past from steel tractor seat pans which are very comfortable, but were very wide. This time I wanted one that was narrow and comfortable. Here is what I did.I cut the original seat down.I welded 1/4 inch round bar all around the edges for strengthand to make the upholster cloth not get torn on the edges. Then I covered it and used for a while. It was very comfortable but I wanted the back to be more roundedwithout it ruining the comfort. In this photot you see how I rounded the back of the seat for better looks.Upholstery job not so good but ok for now.The motorcycle is built from scratch including the frame. The frame is based on a 1948 Harley Davidson. The engine is a Honda VF1000R V4 gear driven cam engine 121 HP.Springer front forks. Raked 42ºOne other view of the motorcycle with one of the first tractor seat designs. It was comfortable but did not have the back suport I needed for long rides.Last edited by Donald Branscom; 02-15-2011 at 11:42 AM.AWS certified welding inspectorAWS certified welder
Reply:Nice, I have the same engine, Im building a trike around, it's an early one '84 so needs the oil mod to give the back cams more pressure
Reply:That's nice work but it makes my butt hurt just to look at it.

Reply:Last year I built this sporty, springer came as a kit.Only thing that I wished I had done different is my front brake. The 3" mini hub is worthless.Looks you don't have any front brake...and with 121 hp.Oh well your ride.oops I see your brake now....my badLast edited by IamVince; 02-15-2011 at 04:01 PM.
