One of the things that's kept me rather busy lately (besides the cold giving problems with the trailer and the then warm up turning this place into grand central station) is the close call my dad had. He was hit by a semi nearly 2 weeks ago. Fortunately he wasn't hurt badly (though he's still pretty sore). My nephew who was with him wasn't hurt much at all.   These pics where taken the next day while we where trying to get the tools out of the tool box. It's my nephew and dad in the pics. I spent two solid months completely rebuilding and customizing that bed two years ago. It's hard to tell in the pics but the top drawer went all the way across the bed and would pull out half way to either side. The driver side had three more shallow drawers below that. Reply:Here's a shot of the truck that hit him. It was like the driver was trying to run him down. He weaved across into dads lane so dad tried going into his, then the driver weaved back so dad came back to his, then he turned right into dad. Since this happened right at the bottom of a hill (for both of them) with a bridge and really tall steep drop offs on each side of the road dad didn't have any place to go to get out of the way. Reply:Sorry to hear about that. I own and operate my own truck and I must say normally when that much damage to a truck the other vehicle doesn't even exist. Some one was watching over them. The custom bed on pick up sounds sweet. Shame it got wrecked. We are on our way to being farmers! Reply:I would hate to see the outcome if that Ram had a stock bed.. Things like that make me not want to drive, one morning I got run into oncoming traffic by a dump truck driver that wasn't paying attention..
Reply:Originally Posted by irish fixit.....  Maybe some day. I've had the idea to do it for 25+ years. I finally got a chance to implement it in that bed. But having the time and money to do it is another story. If I work on dads projects for that long I tend to go broke around here....
Reply:Dang! Thats a close call.  Truck looks totaled? Amazing they are both all OK.  Sombody was looking out for them for sure, doesn't hurt to look up once in awhile.....
