Hi there,I need to do some aluminium welding and all I have is a typical MIG welder I use for welding steel. From what I've seen it appears that trying to run aluminium welding wire through my mig hose is tricky and that I also need to change my feed spool from a V to U roller as well as changing my gas (maybe) as well.I've seen the Lincoln and Miller welders with the spool guns and I'm wondering if you can buy a generic spool gun that fits any type of mig welder?I wont be doing alot of aluminium welding, so I'd like to not have to buy a new welder just to get a spool gun.Any advice would be great.
Reply:We need more info like what kind of welder do u have is it 110 or 220. most of the time you can get a kit to change your mig feeder to do aluminum it has to have the plastic liner in it and yes you have to change your gas to argon. this is what you are looking for http://www.mylincolnelectric.com/Cat...et.aspx?p=2144Last edited by Graydevil; 01-21-2010 at 04:59 PM.
Reply:Yep that spool gun is what I'm after. I'm in Australia and use a Cigweld 200, I haven't looked for a spool gun for my welder, I;m just assuming I can't get one. Guess I better make sure and look...
