Before and after pictures. Before shows the drill press with a belt on. So the weight of the motor ideally keeps the tension. However, a problem to be solved is that the machine really likes to have only a small amount of pressure at the start and then you can increase the pressure gradually to full speed. I'd like to come up with a way to do that. Foot pedal?I don't know, but the drill is neat. Otherwise, I should just buy a 'modern' drill. For the casters, I had some left over 2x2x14g and some round tubing. Welded the nuts on the inside of the 2x2 and had myself a roll around drill press that looks better! Cheers, Attached Images
Reply:Also, the 'shop' (2 car garage) is a mess right now. I basically move every year and I'm still trying to get organized. I'm 5 years out of college and doing this in my spare time. My garage doesn't look this bad year around...

Reply:Not too many details. 'The Columbian Hardware Co - Cleveland OH' I asked about it earlier on this site. How people mount it and what not. I actually had an offer from someone to make me a good strong piece that keeps the vice mounted on the workbench at the top. Then I'll need to make something to hold the bottom. But first I need a metal table. Other than that, the things are awesome. Super simple design and if you mount them like they are supposed to be then you won't have a lot of weight on the bench and you'll be able to really torque stuff because you have a great long arm on the bottom that is being held and a good base up top. I can take more photos if you like. The drill was built in Indiana by 'Vonnegut' and has the raised lettering 'Junior'. (Like the author who is also from Indiana). The drill press had an Leland motor on it. I still have it, but it started smoking when using it. I still want to have it rebuilt. I think Leland was also out of OH. I'm originally from Indiana, so that's why these things are from the Midwest.I've done more auto / motorcycle work than fab stuff, so wood was the way to go until I saw the light. : )lol, I flipped that last pic wrong because the O/A setup is totally on the right.Last edited by engineer1984; 02-28-2011 at 11:37 PM.
