I have a 310amp tig machine, I have 25ft long torch cables and was going to do the same length for the ground. It seems from reading and looking in some shops, 1/0 seems to be a common size. What are you guys using and where are you buying it from? Is it 100% copper? lowes stuff, grainger? I have a friend that competes professionally in car audio, he has some 1/0 copper thats super flexible, I can easily tie it in knots. They sell it in copper clad also. Naturally the price of copper is double. around 75 a spool compared to 35 for clad. I have also seen the THHN wire at lowes/homedepot, never felt it to see how flexible it was though. Any suggestions?
Reply:Goto ebay and look for a vendor named acdcelectricparts. Good prices. For example:http://www.ebay.com/itm/20-1-0-WELDI...-/190717377372http://www.ebay.com/itm/20-EXCELENE-...-/350589438137
Reply:The links Kelvin gave you are for "welding cable" which is what you want. If 20' is too short, try other fleabay sellers or www.weldingsupply.com which has pretty good prices on cable.JohnA few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps
Reply:This place has the best prices I've found. I have not held their cable in my hand, so I cannot attest to the quality. I do plan on buying it here though.http://www.electronbeam.com"Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! Reply:1/0 will work just fine.Run a "Want to Buy" ad on Craigslist and see what becomes available.Example: http://sanantonio.craigslist.org/tls/3416994150.htmlLast edited by hobohilton; 11-20-2012 at 09:53 PM.Lincoln SA200's... at least 15 - 20. They come and go. Growing partial to the "Short Hoods" in my old age. Last count on Short Hoods was 13 in possession. |
