hi all this is my first welding project. i bought this buzzbox about 2 years ago, and have not had the time to try it out. about 2 weeks ago i dug it out of the corner of the shop and fired it up and had a great time just learning how to keep a arc, and run a bead, so i thought i needed a project. i had made a wood cart for this welder when i first bought it, but i thought if im going to learn to weld i might as well make one out of steel. this cart took me about 10hrs to build. its made from mild steel, and gallvanized sheet. i used 6013 rod at 90-100 amps. thanks for looking latter Attached Images
Reply:I have a real fondness for that machine, I had one given to me back in the 60"s and I welded everything in sight. Mine was just AC, but when I look at some of the things in my shop today that I built using it, I am amazed. Mine had wheels on it, so I never thought of building a cart. Your cart looks great as I recall, they were pretty heavy. That is a great machine to start and learn with. Good luck.
Reply:thanks trapperjohn,i think its a pretty cool machine too. i belleve its from the early 70's, and by the weight copmparsion to its new counterpart it has a little more copper in its windings. thanks agine latter
Reply:I like that you have a spot for your rods, and a small work area on top. Nice job!
Reply:thanks custer, a lot of thought went in to the design. the rod tubs are 2" pvc with one a glued cap on one side and a screw cap on the other. the rod that i used was stored in them for about 2yrs in a unheated shed, and they stayed very dry.thanks for the reply latter |
