can this leaky torch hose be fixed?

So I went to practice some welding today and found out my water line is leaking about 1" below the brass connector! bummer. Costs about $20 for a new line and $10 to ship. Is there anyway to fix this one? Not sure if it is from stress or freezing temps we had recently. Guess I should of put antifreeze in that machine!!!!

Reply:Clean it off dry dry dry...Then some warm electrical tape will seal the leak.Then get off your azz and get a new one....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:So I bought a new hose online. Went to my shop to remove the old house and found out that when you unscrew that brass connector, there is a barb connector underneath. So I just snipped off the last inch of blue line and hooked it back up.I have no idea what kind of Locktite or sealing compound they use on the threads. I used white teflon paste.I'll test it tomorrow. Hopefully I can cancel the new hose order. And as far as the cause, I'm pretty sure it was a stress point. The torch was probably in this bent position for months.This newbie is learning! LOL.
Reply:No sealer needed. Just make several wraps around the hose (over the barb) with some very fine tie wire and twist the wire until it compresses the hose.. cover it up and your good to go.HoboLincoln SA200's... at least 15 - 20. They come and go. Growing partial to the "Short Hoods" in my old age. Last count on Short Hoods was 13 in possession.

Reply:uhh just cut off the back section and clamp it back down lol. Make sure the braid is clamped down by the brass sleeve, it's purpose is to keep the line from ballooning when under pressure, without it that area will swell and eventually (if not immediately) pop.Welding/Fab Pics: www.UtahWeld.com
