Trailer side gate

Hi all, been watching for a long time now and decided to make my first post.Needed to add a side gate, for my father in law, to make loading second quad easier. Getting tired of picking these things up and sliding them around. Attached Images
Reply:Will that mesh support a quad if the wheels aren't over the tubing? It does have a nice clean appearance.How about that kindling in the trailer? Did you get a smoulder going when you cut out the side panels?
Reply:Mesh is nice and heavy, should hold up longer than the F.I.L. Deck was wet from rain the night before, cut out with wafer wheel on grinder for nice clean lines.MM20030A spool gunHypertherm 600Harris Torches
Reply:Looks nice. The only down side I see is that a lot of those small landscape trailers use the sides as a truss for strength. Cut out the side and you can seriously weaken the trailer. In most cases you've just cut out over 90% if the "frame" on one side. Not the best idea in the world. Most of those trailers don't have any extra strength built into the design as it is, since they are built to use the least amount of material possible.  Even if it holds the weight, you'll probably get a lot of flex and twist in the trailer now and that will work hard on all the remaining parts and welds..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:DSW- you're right about these things being flimsy, I reinforced the lower angle rail and pinned the gate to the sides to help with the flex.
